Many ask me questions on what is needed to start hand feeding. I will set the plastic container on a heating pad to keep the babies warm. I remove the first two babies at about 15-19 days old. I will put wood chips on the bottom esp. for the English budgies. They have bigger feet and seem to need the wood chips so their feet don’t get deformed. I have a thermometer so I can keep the food at the right temperature.100 -106F or 37.7-41.1C The first few days the closer to 106F the easier it will be to get the babies to eat. Some learn the first day, others will take about 3 days before they readily take the syringe. Eventually they will cry for food at the sound of my voice.
